Travel Back in Time in Rice
On the banks of the Cheweka River (which some call a creek), the town of Rice in Northeast Washington's Stevens County real estate hardly looks like a town at all, or at least not a 21 st century one. Nestled in a bucolic setting of rolling green hills, meandering streams and clear lakes, Rice looks more like a 19 th century village.
Though most of Rice, WA real estate is fairly new, homes here are rustic in style, ranging from ranches to farm houses to custom-made log lodges, and they blend well with the picturesque surroundings. The ideal location for those wanting a bit more privacy, Rice is far enough from other communities to be in a world of its own, but near enough to benefit from their facilities. The nearest town, Gifford, is a 15-minute drive to the south, while the bigger cities of Kettle Falls and Colville are around 23 and 36 minutes away, respectively.
With a population of a little over 600, Rice is a community where everybody knows everybody else. If you don't like nosy neighbors, however, don't worry. A fair number of Rice, WA real estate is made up of large, expansive lots where you can build your dream house far from the madding crowd (if you consider a population density of 9 people per square mile a crowd).
Also near Lake Roosevelt, Rice offers residents a plethora of the year-round outdoor activities that Northeast Washington is justly famous for. Whatever you may want to see or do, you'll find it in Rice and its surrounding areas.
